Who is Competent Hosting?

We are a managed Linux/cPanel hosting provider that believes in providing quality services, support, and management for a fair price. We often go above and beyond the typical industry scope of support to accomplish your number 1 priority: Keeping your sites online!


Why only Shared and VPS?

Except for clients with special requirements, we believe putting your sites on bare-metal boxes is not in your best interest. Our Large Dedicated VPS plans come with all the same dedicated resources as a typical bare-metal dedicated server would, but have many advantages. Our VPS plans are more easily maintained, backed up and restored, and are more resilient to hardware failures. These reasons all help us provide you a better service. Furthermore, our VPS architecture is more energy efficient, which matters a lot to us since our infrastructure is powered by eco-friendly solar panels. Unlike some other hosts, we don't have thousands of aging, obsolete servers consuming vast amounts of power to sell as cheap entry-level servers to customers.


What are your hours of operation?

Our Emergency Support Hours are 24 hours, 7 days a week, 356 days a year. If you have an emergency or a site-down issue, don't hesitate to call us at any time! Our off-hours staff are always on call, so if we don't see your emergency ticket right away, we apologize, but give us a call and we'll get it taken care of ASAP. Our normal Business hours are 9AM-9PM, Mon-Sat, Pacific Time. These are the hours that staff are working to process billing requests, general questions, and process manual orders. However, our overnight staff often takes care of these things off-hours, as well.


I ordered a domain but it is still pending. What gives?

Due to the non-refundable nature of domain registration, all domain orders have to be manually approved by billing staff during the hours listed above. We apologize for the inconvenience.


I need a plan bigger than what's offered. Can you accommodate me?

Yes! We encourage clients with bigger needs to contact us for a custom quote, so we can provide a tailor-made solution for you. Please contact our General Enquiries department if you feel you need a larger plan: Contact Here!


What sort of hosting platforms do you offer?

On our Shared plans, you can expect a CloudLinux+cPanel environment, with PHP, CGI, NodeJS, and MySQL Support. We also have FFMPEG and other multimedia utilities pre-installed on Shared servers. On our Dedicated VPS plans, you have the option of cPanel, and virtually anything that can run under Linux or BSD! Sorry, but we do not support Windows.


What payment options do you have?

Currently, we accept Visa, Mastercard, and E-check for for all North-American customers. For everyone else, we only offer PayPal at this time.


Do you have a Wiki or Self-help area?

Not yet, but it's coming soon. For the interim, we're happy to answer all your questions via support ticket or phone call.
